PAF's in IITB

my last 4 posts were devoted to PAF's in IIT Bombay..
for those who are not from IITB..

The Performing Arts Festival, abbreviated as PAF, is the annual inter-hostel dramatics competition in the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay located at Powai in Mumbai (India). It is undertaken with great enthusiasm by both Undergraduate and Graduate students of IIT Bombay. Typically two or three hostels (out of 14) tie up by lucky draw for each PAF. Though technically a drama, each PAF is a combination of all cultural arts, be it dramatics, literature, music, fine arts, debating , dance etc. All PAFs are held in the Open Air Theater (OAT) within the main campus of IIT Bombay, inside the Students' Activity Center.

as expected Deja vu was the winning PAF this year.. the PAF created history by winning 7 out of the 9 awarded trophies..

deja vu.. the last & the perfect one.. !!

My last PAF during my stay at IIT.. & what a PAF it was..
awsum performance.. powerful script..
GODmax concept & execution.. excellent direction.. nice choreo..
with all the right issues at the right place.. every thing was so PERFECT..
& last but not the least.. it was a bliss for passing out junta like me..
to watch thr last PAF.. on IIT life..

It covered such heavy issues being raised in IIT... in such a light mode that ppl sitting all over got involved so much that they even forgot to hoot..

It started off with a guy being unsuccessful to get thru JEE & commiting suicide.. then a normal guy in IIT is shown.. who has seen failure always after coming to IIT.. with many fakka's & farra's.. no GF's.. no job.. which makes him feel that his life is worthless..

many things he have in mind..
lots of people forcing him to do...
wot he nevr wanted to..

he wants to live his life..
in his own way..
but hez nevr able to..

he feels very lonley.. with no one around him.. who he can say is his true friend.. this makes his life even worse.. with all this stuff going on side by side.. this guy wants to make a script for PAF.. which is uniqe.. & which can hit evryone..

as seen with all this frustation going around.. he rags a guy.. to work for PAF.. & as a result gets DAC as a gift & suspension for one year.. now with such a big time givup in life.. he thinks of easiest way of getting over all this.. when he was about to commit it.. soon he is told that his fren has already commited suicide.. then he goes to a psychiatrist.. where he finds that all the people around him have some or the other problems.. & just giving up is not the solution to them.. evryone is living with it.. this gives him the idea.. to show the inner side of guys.. with all the pain in there life... to be shown through the PAF script..

Then comes the court scene @ coffee shack.. where everyone involved (prof, himself & his fren) is brought to a common platform.. & shown where they all went wrong.. & that disscusing it among themselves is the only way left to make iit a better place..

finally it ended with floyd being played in background.. giving a highly inspiring note

Camouflages..

to be true... though it was H3's PAF...
it was the worst, i evr saw in my iit life..

the story was of a pimp.. it started really well.. 1st 15 mins were worth watching.. with fundoo dialouges.. & nice execution..

but after that.. it changed its way.. with puches one after the other..
starting from dragon dance..
then "tere roop di ho gayi.. (daya daya)" choreo..
then dialouges.. which were too long to be tolerated.. also lights.. searching for actor on stage..
& so much of pondiaps all over that it was being compared with socials..

finally it crossed all the limits with a big big interview at the end.. & that too so monotouns & with puches in voiceover.. that it crossed all limits..

I know that its bad to critise a PAF.. but making such a good script look bad..
with such a poor direction & so many puches is a real crime..

In all it was a total dissapointment & though not the best.. but i really dint expected such a bad paf by H3 :(

Kharashe.. another hindu-muslim story !!

PAF by 6-10-13...

though.. the script was very common.. there were puches in lights..
though.. choreo were arbit.. not related to stroy..

but this PAF can be said an average one..
just because of some good dialouges used.. fundoo prod made..
a few good voiceovers.. & really nice execution of such a common script..

just a better climax could have left an impact on junta..

Asraar.. duping who ??

well.. so that was the 1st PAF of '06... by H2, 7 & 8... like always it had to start late.. & near the gate there were H3 guys all over.. shouting slogans, ranging from "H3-H3" to "angrezo bharat chodo" to " bharat maata ki.. " lolz.. finally 45 mins late around 10.. gate opened.. evryone rushed in.. & tried thr best to get seats.. from where they could get best possible view..

In short story was of shahjahan.. who came into power after Jahangir's death.. its shown that he was very generous initially.. but soon he came into words of his minister.. & started fighting with his neighbours.. which was shown very nicely.. with a game of chess being played... & nice choreo too.. though copied from previous PAF's & chaos :)..

atlast he lost a battel.. & was very depressed.. he wanted to create something very glorious.. to be written in history.. & by which he could get fame.. soon after that Aurangjeb(as a child) is shown with a model of some monument in his hands.. & Shahjhan thought.. that its the thing which could be a tribute to himself.. but for it to be famous.. it needed a bigger reason..
he ordered his minister to make a glorious.. sangmarmar's MAKBARA (which is made after death).. & ordered to kill his wife.. as a sacrifice to this great monument.. which would get the name "TAJMAHAL" after the death of Mumtaj.

Aurangjeb.. who got pissed off by this decision.. later imprisoned his father.. & kept him such that he could not see even a part of Tajmahal.. At the end.. Aurrangjeb is shown.. calling people of future to change the history of Tajmahal..

probably there is no one who has been duped at least once in a life time.. but can the whole world can be duped??? this may seem impossible.. but in the matter of indian and world history the world can be duped in many respects for hundreds of years and still continues to be duped.. :)

Except prod (The Taj Mahal).. concept.. & the chessboard scene.. nothing was great in paf.. the execution was really bad.. with less importance been given to the climax.. which was the most important part.. lights & voiceovers had enough puches.. but a PAF is a PAF.. with so many people workin all day & night.. it can never be bad.

lost.. my last basky match in iit :(

so.. it was my last basky match in iitb...
h3 vs h13
cheering was really gr8..
we were good on defence
& mihir played really well..

but all matters at last is.. score (23/35)
which was once (19/23) just after half time..
we could have done it.. but we lost :(
still i'm happy that we played well..
& gave them good fight

last but not least...
kudos to dixi.. he was a superb coach..

without him... it cud have been tough
even to give such a close fite
anyways..
i'm sure H3 will do it next year..

Goa.. its more than juss beaches !!

So... i was bck frm jaipur... & the same day DC told me parso goa jaa rahe hai.. well 1st i thot ki mazzak kar raha hai.. but baad mein pata chala pura plan ban chuka tha.. i dint wanted to go cos I was told tht is time beaches pe sand bahut garam hogi.. & mazza nahi ane wala.. but i was totally worng.. & m happy tht i decided 2 go... :).. it was a gr8 trip.. & i really njoyed a lot.. with many things happning around me :P



hmm.. so v took waiting ticks of train.. yess waiting.. lolz.. cos mukki ko bus mein nahi jana tha :).. kher evrything was ready.. & we took train @ 11:15 frm dadar... pahle socha genraal dabbe mein fight mari jaaye.. but it was all full.. newys.. hum 3-4 logo ko ek khali compartmnt mila.. so waha jaake beth gaye.. all 7 guys were in.. xcpet DC .. ankit went out to c him.. as soon as he saw him.. train chal padi.. now ankit ran & caught train.. & DC still running.. aage itne gates khule the.. but DC bhaisahab chadenge to bas humare wale coach mein hi.. wo bhi baad wale gate se :P.. jaha ankit khada tha.. lolz.. bhagte hue train pakad li jaise taise.. ( xact scene like DDLJ :P).. andar aate hi ekdum senti.. ki tum logo ne bataya kyo nahi.. hehe..


newys.. thodi der mein DC shant hua to pata chala.. jis compartment ko hum apna samjh ke bethe the.. wo Thane se hi bharne wala tha.. ab fight maari gai sone ki jagah dhundne ki.. train ke saare cmprtmnts chek kar liye gaye.. & finally we got some place to sit.. place b/w gates & toilets.. lolz.. we blocked the gates & sat thr.. coz sab jagah logo ne yahi kia hua tha :P.. jab thodi shanti hui.. to humne socha bethe bethe to bore ho jayenge.. so we started playing cards.. ab ise baaki logo ka gud luck kaho.. ya mukki ka bad luck.. bechare ki itnii li.. ki has has ke pagal ho gaye.. wo kuch bhi bole har baar uska ulta hi ho raha tha.. played dehla pakad.... chuakadi... blckqueen.. & jab bore ho gaye... tab sone ki yaad aai.. around 4.. jab sab so chuke the.. humne jagah dhundne ki fight mari.. mukki & bo slpt thr only.. and me & ankit.. cmprtmnts ke beech mein jo chalne ki jagah hoti hai.. waha paper bicha ke so gaye.. :).. othr 4 guys were alredy slept by tht time..

well raat jaise taise gujri.. & finally subah hui :D.. sabne upper births dhundi jaha koi so na raha ho.. & waha jake so gaye... beech beech mein enf acche stations aa rahe the.. best was ratnagiri.. tarin single line pe chal rahi thi.. so har crossing pe ruk rahi thi :).... jab 8:30 types sab uth gaye.. 1st thing claimed missing was.. DC's floaters... hehe.. & then ankit's cap.. dc bechara nbd mein idhar udhar ghum raha tha.. kher the nxt thing we realized missing was Linda(raja agarwal).. hehe.. itna dhunda usko.. but kahi nahi mila.. in the end he was found sleepin in same coach on sum upper brth.. & raat ko wo hi DC ke sandals pehan ke nikal gaya tha.. thodi der mein cap bhi mil gai & so evrything missing was found.. & finally v cud c DC smiling :).. so we landed at thivim station goa at around 11 am.. not as much tierd as we thot v wud b during night.. thrs nothin to c in thivim so we took a shuttle to mapusa.. & waha jaate hi sabse pahle lunch kia.. well 1st lunch se hi pata chal gaya.. ki goa mein khana bahut cheap hoga :D.. wo decent enf rest.. SP se bhi cheap tha ;)... kher v had gr8 lunch & thn again we took anothr shuttle to calangute.. cos mapusa mein na rehne ko jagah.. na hi bikes mil rahi thi..


ladke 8 & licence bas 2.. bahut na insaafi hai ye to.. kahi bhi registerd bike nahi mili :(.. so finally we decided to hire sumo for sunday.. & saturday bas calangute beach par hi ghumne ka decide hua.. coz jab tak room(MR hotel) final hua tab tak almost shaam ho chuki thi.. newys humne sham ko bhi acche se utilise kia.. & played some water sports tht day.. did water scooter & banana ride.. which was amazing.. beach pe khub masti maari.. saw 1st sunset in goa & thn finally left for hotel.. naha dhoke.. waha se again nikal pade dinner ke liye.. which was again very cheap :).. raat ko v were back to calangute beach.. atmo thr was really gr8.. with no lights xcept by candles.. in hand.. & sound of waves.. with floyd being played in backgrnd.. it was really amazing.. infact night wch i wont 4get evr..


with only 1 bathroom & 8 guys... subah uthte hi line lag gai nahane ko :D.. sab 9 baje tak taiyaar hue.. & sumo ko hotel hi bula lia.. we left for coco beach & had breaker in b/w.. well breaker se yaad aaya.. ankit's order was ( Paw bhaji).. & wot he got was.. BHAJI & PAW where bhaji = sambhar.. lolz.. bechare ki shakal dekhne layak thi jaise hi plate samne aai :)


Coco beach.. hmm.. well thr were many shells on the beach wch i wanted to collect.. i thot aage kisi beach pe milegi to le lunga.. but aage kahi nahi mili.. & finally mujhe khareendni padi.. newys.. we were thr 2 c dolphins.. so v hierd a boat.. saw some smugglers bangla.. whoz underground now.. a prison.. & finally dolphins :) frm coco beach we went to Chapel of St. Francis Xavier.. waha thoda ghume.. & thn went to colva beach.. well v nvr thot hume itne saste mein para sailing karne ko mil jayegi.. hehe.. it was really great.. felt like i was flying like a bird.. & neeche paani hi paani.. we landed on beach.. but agar wo landing sea mein hoti to aur bhi maza aata :P.. colva beach was great.. we dint go in water but.. it was d best beach i saw in the whole trip.. then we went to dona paula.. which is more known as suicide point.. view frm thr was really gr8 :)


from dona pula.. we went to miramar beach... waha khub masti maari paani mein.. :).. & thn v left for the best spot of the day.. the russian cruise.. well tht was meant to c sunset too.. but itna dance kia.. ki sunset kaha ho gaya beech mein pata hi nahi chala.. :P.. i was the 1st one to go to stage.. both the times wen guys were callled ;)... mere to bilkul man nahi ho raha tha waha se wapas aane ka.. but it ended at 7:45 & we were back to our hotel by night.. took bath... had dinner.. & like the day b4.. wnt to calangute beach at same place.. at shore side.. with gr8 music :)



again sumo was hired for the last day too... & this time we decided to coverup north goa.. started with breaker at monginis.. & thn to baga beach.. spent some time thr.. & thn we left for arambol beach... it was not much crowded & really nice.. khub nahaye waha.. & took sun bath :).. on one end was parshuram's mandir at few mtrs height.. the view of coastline frm thr was awsum.. v took a lot of pics thr..



then we left for chapora fort (DCH wala fort ;) )... it was really nice.. but only few mtrs away frm tht fort.. just abv vagator beach was a place.. tht was GOD max.. much bettr thn the actual DCH spot they had shown in movie.. itni mast hawa chal rahi thi.. & the view frm thr of sea was amazing.. we sat thr for abt 30 mins.. & then left for vagator beach... waha kuch khas nahi lag raha tha.. & also jyada time bhi nahi bacha tha.. so we decided to spend rest of time at the last spot.. anjuna beach.. well pahle to waha laga ki kuch bhi nahi hai.. cos the place whr sumo left us.. was abt 500m away frm the xact beach.. newys the beach was really nice.. best rocky beach v saw in goa.. sunset view frm thr was awsum.. atmo was gr8.. during last sunset we saw at goa.. & thn arnd 7 we left for mapusa..


bus left at arnd 8:30.. but even though it was volvo.. return journey was not gud enf.. 1st.. cos of C grade movie which was shown.. & 2nd thy dint gave us ne blanket.. thand ke maare mar hi gaye :(... but the best part was.. subah 7:15 bus ne hame sion pahucha dia.. & i was able to atend 1st clas of PG :D.. in all trip was really gr8.. xcept few kaha-suni's amng guys.. agar wo nahi hoti.. to it cud have been evn better.. :).. newys i njoyed a lot.. & only thing which i regret of is my blanket which i left in hotel :(



to sum up with best of goa trip.. ;)

1.) Banana ride..
2.) 1st night at calangute beach.. candles//floyd
3.) Para sailing
4.) Russian Cruise
5.) Chapura fort (dch point.. ).. place few mtrs away frm the xact point :)


I'm happy tht i wrote evrything which came to my mind.. & i still remem so much..

Jaipur... calling !!

** trip got postponed.. frm 23rd to 24th :( cos of RR xam X-(

** took waiting tickts.. wch got confirmed on last day :)

** finally I ws @ jpr.. on 25th.. felt gr8 being thr.. after such a long time..

** had gr8 food.. gazar jka halwa.. daal baati.. rasgullas.. & gungiri ki chakkis by taiji :D

** ganesh ji ke mandir.. had lots of laddus :D

** met lots of frens.. & reltvs..

** went to Chanakya garden on 26th.. Taiji's marriage anniv.. :)

** as usual.. khoob taash kheli ;)

** in all trip was a gr8 fun..
